Haworthia, named after the botanist Adrian Hardy Haworth, is a genus of of about 70 small growing succulent species from South Africa. The plant name (usually!) provides a link to a photo. The photo is not necessarily the individual plant being sold, but illustrates the species as represented in our collection. We have one of the largest selections of haworthias available in the U.S. However the naming of Haworthias is a bit of a mess and many illegitimate species have been named. That said, we will try to be as accurate in our naming as possible, checking against various sources when necessary. In general we follow Bruce Bayer's nomenclature per his Haworthia Revisited. 1999. When ordering, please note the plant name, pot size and price. (Not all of our plants are listed. Feel free to inquire about a specific species or hybrid.) Thanks. Oh, by the way, they're also very easy to grow, though growing them well requires the experience of time and a willingness to learn...which we're sure you have or you wouldn't be here! Remember, even some of the more common Haworthias are worth your time and effort. Though some seed-grown specialty plants can be a bit expensive (but worth it!), you don't have to spend a lot to have a beautiful and enjoyable collection. Enjoy! |
