Hoodia gordonii A Google search for Hoodia gordonii will produce thousands of links to Hoodia diet pills, but few links to the sale of plants. Some have referred to it as one of the wonder plants of the twenty-first century due to it's apparent ability to suppress appetite. The active ingredient, P57, does appear to have some hunger suppression activity, but its effecacy and safety with humans have not been demonstrated in any significant and published scientific study. What we sell are seed grown plants obtained from legal sources and are not sold for their supposed medicinal properties, but for the interesting and esthetic qualities of the plants themselves.Trade in this plant is restricted due to its over-collection. (Though it is widely distributed in parts of South Africa, it is a concern that collectors may take similar species which are indeed at risk or endangered.) Nice spiney gray-green clumps. Updated, July 30, 2011. Limited quantities in all sizes. 4-headed
